The Wawel bakery-patisserie was founded in Montreal in 1984. Its founder, Peter Sowa, was only 24 years old, but he was driven by the desire to make his specialities known. He inherited his pastry-making skills from his family, who owned two pastry shops in his native Poland. In addition, trips to Austria enabled him to perfect his art. Thanks to his perseverance, product excellence, innovation and quest for perfection, the Wawel name has become synonymous with quality throughout Quebec.
